Ms. Catherine Mwangi is one of the founders of Women Nest, she is a harm reduction champion, a human rights defender and community mentor for women who use drugs. She has over 9 years’ experience working in management of programs for people who use drugs (PWUD) at the community and national level. She was one of the community experts involved in rolling out the nine World Health Organization/UNAIDs recommended harm reduction interventions in Kenya such as needle/syringe program and the Medically Assisted Therapy. She took lead in the revision of the Medically Assisted Therapy guidelines, development of the people who inject drugs training manual, development of the hepatitis guidelines and stigma and discrimination facilitation guide for the key populations. Catherine has finalized her PhD in public health where she studied women who inject drugs and has published widely. She has excellent knowledge and skills in program management, program design, resource mobilization and networking, program evaluation, capacity building and advocacy, communication and research. She is an accomplished leader.
